One of Fergusson's 'on the spot' sketches. This painting is clearly influenced by current developments in Paris, in particular The Fauves. Moving away from an Impressionists manner he favoured a palette consisting predominantly of reds, purples and blues with much contouring in evidence. This was to become a striking feature of his style over the next few years
