Benet Haughton

If it be Your Will

Benet Haughton has been painting since he was a boy, though he did stop for a significant time whilst raising his family. He now has work in many countries throughout the world including Australia, the USA and Europe. He has exhibited mainly in Edinburgh, but also in Glasgow and Lewes and at the Galicia Jewish Museum in Krakow Poland. He trained initially at Goldsmiths, while studying to teach and has pursued various courses over the years including a year with Leith School of Art.

Benet Haughton's work celebrates the inner landscape of the human soul. He draws encouragement and inspiration from many sources that have attempted similar journeys, particularly from painters such as George Rouault, Emile Nolde, Marc Chagall and Arthur Boyd. He is determinedly figurative and non-conceptual maintaining a colourful, poetic, narrational and sometimes ironic stance.
