Donald McIntyre (b.1923)

Born in Yorkshire in 1932 McIntyre spent his formative years on the west coast of Scotland and studied painting under James Wright R.S.W. before a change of direction took him to Glasgow to study dentistry. He practised as a dentist until the age of 40, when his passion for painting proved too great and he decided to pursue his artist ambitions.

Inspired by the landscapes of his childhood, MyIntyre has become noted for his landscapes and dramatic coastlines of North Wales and Scotland captured in vivid colour and bold brushstrokes, a palette firmly rooted in the Scottish Colourist tradition.

His work increasingly commands high prices at auction.
