Murray Urquhart (1880-1972)

Murray McNeel Urquhart was born in Kirkcudbrightshire in 1880. He studied at the Edinburgh School of Art, the Slade and the Westminster School of Art where he was tutored by Walter Sickert, whose influence is clearly evident in this  work. He later studied at the Academie Julian in Paris, where he lived for two years.

Urquhart exhibited extensively at the RBA, of which he was a member, and also the Lefevre Gallery, Walker’s galleries, the RA and the NEAC.
