This is a portrayal of Mary Auras, whom Crawhall met through Sir John Lavery.

Mary was a companion to Lavery's daughter, Eileen, and also worked as a model for Lavery. She accompanied Lavery and his daughter to Tangiers one winter and remained there after marrying Nigel d'Albini Black-Hawkins, becoming part of the Tangiers coterie.
