Archibald Russell Watson Allan was born in Glasgow where he studied at the School of Art, then in Paris at Atelier Colarossi and Académie Julian. Allan was a member of Glasgow Art Club and showed extensively with the Royal Glasgow Institute of Fine Arts and RSA.
